Is fasting for me?

Ask yourself the following questions:

Am I in need of healing or a miracle?
Is there a dream inside of me that only the Lord can make possible?
Am I in need of a fresh encounter with the Lord?
Do I desire a deeper relationship with the Lord?
Do I desire a heightened sensitivity to His voice and His desires?
Are there any bondages I need to break away from?
Is there a friend or loved one in my life that needs Salvation?
Do I desire to know God’s will for my life?

If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, then fasting is indeed for you. In fact…

Fasting is for all believers.

Isaiah 58:6 “[Is] not this the fast that I have chosen to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?"

Matthew 6:17-18 “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

Matthew 7:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.”

1 Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

Give, pray, fast…

When Jesus spoke of fasting he did not say if but when you fast. According to the Bible, in Matthew 6, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray and fast.

...when you do a charitable deed...when you pray...when you fast...

Biblical fasting takes a lot of discipline and strength—strength which you can only receive from God. Your private discipline will bring you rewards in Heaven, says Matthew 6. When you give God your first through fasting, prayer and giving at the beginning of the year, you set the course for the entire year.
